I used this with my 5th & 7th grader as a sort of curriculum guide. It has some good graphics and some lame activities, and it needs a lot of other resources for actually teaching the material, but it formed a good backbone for what we did it science. I found it very useful.

If your budding scientist wants to stretch their knowledge outside of the core math, english workbooks. This workbook adds great variety to their curriculum and will challenge them on concepts they cover in school. Its always good to get these workbooks 6mth-1year before they cover it if your child is a little advanced.

I bought this to homeschool my 4th grader. I have some of the other Complete Book of… books, and this is my least favorite. I am having to find library books and online material to suppliment everything. This might work for things like extra credit activities, but it isn’t really working out for us as a main source of science material like I had hoped.

I found this to be a great addition to my science curriculum. It has good pictures and diagrams, condensed information, and some interesting experiments. I teach in Texas where testing is everything, and think this book will help my students be even more successful.

I was looking for a science workbook that: provided a lot of hands on activities, quality worksheets, and covered a variety of age appropriate science topics. This book provided exactly that. If you are looking for a textbook, then this is not for you, but if you are looking for a good scope and sequence for a 5th/6th grade science curriculum, and want quality information and worksheets that springboard into opportunities to learn more about the topics through additional resources (library books,) then this is absolutely worth every penny. I love it, it is exactly what I was looking for.
